When Microsoft SQL Server 2000 starts on a computer that is running Microsoft Windows 2000 or later, the SQL Server program will attempt to register the virtual server with Active Directory.
In the event that SQL Server was not able to register a Service Principal Name (SPN), which indicates that the security mechanism that will be used is Microsoft Windows NT Challenge/Response (NTLM) authentication instead of Kerberos, a warning in the Event Log will appear. |
